Have you ever seen the new Tribunal de Paris?
Architecture Professor Linnéa Tilly from Hamilton in France explained to us how the court, inaugurated in 2018, was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, also one of the architects who designed the Centre Georges Pompidou. The building is located in the 17th arrondissement, at Porte de Clichy, and it is the largest tribunal judiciaire out of France’s 164 tribunaux judiciaires in terms of case numbers. The structure of the building is aimed at being eco-friendly: solar panels have been affixed to the side and each rooftop has a garden. In its conception, there is also a reference to Haussmann architecture, as the building is made of four levels that are each 40 meters high, the average size of a Haussmann building.
