This semester in Paris with Hamilton in France, I’ve been volunteering at École Aujourd’hui, a preschool and primary school in the 14th arrondissement. The school uses an active, student-centered approach, which makes every day lively and engaging.
As an English Class assistant, I work with small groups of students through games, songs, and conversation. Some are already familiar with English, while others are just starting, which keeps every session different and exciting. I love seeing the children gain confidence and enjoy learning, and their energy makes each visit rewarding.
Volunteering here has been one of the most meaningful parts of my semester. It has helped me feel connected to Paris and given me a close-up look at a different educational approach. I’ve learned a lot from the teachers and from the students themselves, and it feels great to know I am contributing to their learning.
This experience has enriched my semester in ways I didn’t expect. It’s helped me grow personally, develop new skills, and connect with the local community. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and hope future Hamilton in France students will explore similar volunteer opportunities.
