Our recent field trip to the Loire Valley was a whirlwind of history, architecture, and cultural immersion. Over the course of two days, we delved into the heart of France’s rich heritage, encountering the region’s most iconic landmarks !
Our journey in the cradle of French Renaissance commenced at the Clos Lucé, where we stepped into the world of Leonardo da Vinci. The maestro’s former residence in Amboise provided a glimpse into his genius, with exhibits showcasing his inventions and artistic prowess. It was a fascinating exploration of the mind behind the Mona Lisa and countless other masterpieces.
Moving on to the Abbaye de Fontevraud, we encountered a different aspect of history. This ancient abbey, once a powerful religious center, now houses the final resting places of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionheart.
After a night in Chinon, renowned for its wines and its formidable fortress, we continued our journey to the iconic castles of the Loire Valley. The charming castle of Chenonceau, with its graceful arches spanning the River Cher, was a sight to behold.
Our final stop was the incomparable castle of Chambord. As we explored its sprawling grounds and intricate double helix staircase, we were struck by the sheer grandeur of this Renaissance marvel. It was a fitting conclusion to our exploration of the Loire Valley’s architectural wonders !
