Sàlü! Geht’s? Sorry, we just got back from Alsace where our Fall 2023 students delved into the region’s rich heritage and some of us picked up some Alsatian words along the way…

Explorations in Strasbourg led us through the picturesque Petite France neighborhood and its awe-inspiring cathedral while a taste of local culture awaited us at a typical Alsatian brasserie, where we dined on Flammekueche – also known as tarte flambée.

Venturing into the Alsatian wine region the following day, a visit to the Dopff-au-Moulin winery treated us to tastings of Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot gris in the charming medieval village of Riquewihr while those with energy to spare hiked up to the Castle of Saint-Ulrich, towering high above the town of Ribeauvillé.

Did we mention that the weather was fantastic with a delightful 28 degrees throughout the weekend ?
